The Pishonrs: of
St: Thomas: Grant
of Houses for Alms-
-Houses.


Wee have Agreed with the before named Mr. Boulter Mr.
Whitehouse Mr. Pantall & Mr. Waterman and Mr. Ratcliffe being a Comittee
of the Vestry of the aforesaid Parish of St. Thomas That the Parishionrs shall
Surrender their Lease of severall Old Tenements at the End of the Row
Intended Street in St. Thomas now used for Almshouses wherein were
Twelve yeares and an Halfe is Come at Xtmas. 1704. At Three pounds Six
Shillings P Ann with an Excepcon only of the Lease Granted to their
Tennant of One of the said Houses called the Shovell Alehouse, And
that in Consideracon thereof a Lease shall be granted to these persons
or any others. In Trust for the Parish of severall little Old Tenements
lyeing in St. Thomas's Church Yard (late in Lease to Theodore Russell< no role > )
For Fifty One Yeares from Lady day 1705 At the old Rent of Four pounds
Eight Shill P Ann payable Quarterly with the same Covenants (mutatis
mutandis) as are in the Lease now Agreed to be Surrendred and in regard
these Houses are very much out of Repaire, and will Cost the Parishionrs
a Considerable sume to make them fitt for receiving their poore, and they
submitting themselves therein to the good pleasure of the Govrs. It was
Agreed That the Hospll: should Allow them Twenty Pounds towards that
Charge.

Wee have Agreed with John Weston< no role > Esqr . Owner of the
Mannr. of the Maze in Southwarke which Abutts upon the North & [..]
East sides of St. Thomas's Parish the Inheritance whereof is in the Hospll: That
mutuall Leases shall be Granted between the Hospll: and him of
the Liberty of Way & passage for their Tennants & others with
Horses Carts & other Carriages in by & through the Comon [..] Streets
Ways & Passages in St. Thomas's Parish and in the sd. Mannr. of
Maze For. 500 Yeares, At a pepper Corne P Ann: upon each Lease
Wherein Provision is to be made That if the Hospll: Tennants shall
be Hindred from the Benefitt of the Grant to be made by Mr. Weston it
shall be lawfull for the Governrs. in the manner to hinder his Tennants from
the benefit of the Hospitalls Grant. And the sd. Mr. Weston after
severall Meetings & Treatyes insisting upon a Fine, and that the Leases
shall be made at the Hospll. Charge which with other Incident Charges
will Amount to Thirty Guineys or thereabouts, Wee have agreed that the
same shall be Complyed within regard that severall of the Hospll. Houses
are built very neare the Extremity of our Ground and the Street before
them cheifly belongs to the sd. Mr. Weston.

At the Request of Mr. Edward Langham< no role > Wee have Ordered
that the Lease Agreed the Eighth of October 1703. to be Granted to him of
a house in St. Thomas's lately New Built. shall be made to such other
person or persons as he shall appoint by Writing under his hand and
Seale.
