Wardens Sworne upon this Visitation in the Said Curch Nor was any thing
then done relateing to the said Church or Parish
Mems The Church Wardens were Sworne at the Bull Head a
Taverne in Southwarke after Visitation was over.

King Edward by Letters Patents of this Date. Grants to the Maior and
Coialty and Citizens of London for ever ( inter al: ) The Rectory of Thomas
Beckett
< no role > late called the parsonage of St. Thomas in Southwarke with
all its Rights and appurts, and all and manner of Tythes Oblacons
Obvencons and other profitts whatsoever belonging to the Sd Rectory.

And he further Grants and appoints That the Church within
the Scite of the then late Hospitall of St. Thomas Should be A Parish
Church for the Celebrating and Administring of Divine Service and
Sacraments therein, Aswell for all Inhabitants within the Scite and
Close of the said late hospitall, and for the poore , the Officers and
Ministers there for time being, As for all the Parishioners of the
said Parish for the time being, And that the said Church should for
the future be called The Parish Church of St. Thomas in Southwarke
aforesaid neare London .

And the King thereby Appropriates, the said Rectory and Church
with all its Tythes Oblacons and other Rights to the said Maior [mark]
and Coialty and Citizens, To hold and possess the Same to their [mark]
own propper Use and Behoose for ever With a Grant of Full power
and Lycence to Convert and retaine to their own use All houses Buildings
Lands Glebes Pencons Fruites Tythes Oblacons and other Rights and
Profitts belonging to the said Rectory & Church Without any [mark]
Impeachment for hindrance by the said King his Heires or Successors or [mark]
any Arch Bishopps, Bishopps, Archdeacons, Sheriffs Escheators
Justices, Comission or other Officers Whatsoever of him his heires or
or Successors And without any Accompt First Fruits or Tenths
to be paid to him or them for the same And without Nominacon
Prsentacon Institucon or Collacon of any Rector to be preferred in the
said Chutch. Non Obstance the stat of Mortmaine.

And the King further Grants That the Said Maior and Coialty
and Citizens shall from time to time Find and Maintaine Two
Meet and propper Ministers, for the Celebrating of Divine Service
and Administring the Sacraments As well to the poor and the Officers
Servants of the Said Hospitall and House of the poor, As to the
Parishioners of the said Parish of St. Thomas

Big Church being Old and ruinous, was lately Rebuilt by the
Governors of the Hospitall, with Assistance of some Money
given them by the Parliament The Pewing Galleryes and all
the Inside worke was done at the Charge of the Hospitall The
Inhabitants not Raced any Thing towards it.
