Visitt and Administer to the poor Patients in this Hospitall Three dayes in a Week and to Observe
all such Rules and Orders as are or shall be made by this Court or the Comittee for the good
Government of this Hospitall and the due provideing for the poor Which he promised us [..]

And then this Court proceeding to the Eleccon of a Surgeon in the roome
of Mr. Thomas Elton< no role > lately Displaced The severall peticon of Mr: James Wasse< no role > Mr. Henry
Mi [..] on Mr. Stannton Mr. Talman Mr: Petty Mr: James Ferne< no role > Mr. Woodward Mr
John Pond< no role > and Mr: John Davis< no role > All Examined and Approved Surgions were Read praying
to be Admitted to the said Place And after severall Red [..] the said James Ferne< no role >
was Freely Elected and Chosen and accordingly at this Court was Admitted to be
One of the Surgeons of this Hospitall in the roome of the said Mr: Elton to Holl
the same dureing the pleasure of this Court and not otherwise with the usual
Sallary He Observing all such Rules and orders as are shall be made by this Court
or the Comittee for the good Governement of this Hospll. and the due provideing for the
Poor Which he promised in Open Court to Observe and performe accordingly

The Peticons Orders Etc menconed in the foregoeing Report: vizt:
To the Queens most Excellent Majesty in Councill

The Humble peticon of Doctor Richard Torlesse< no role > and
Thomas Elton< no role > Surgeon .

Sheweth
That your Peticonrs. have been Physitian and Surgeon to your Majesty's Hospitall of St: Thomas
in Southwarke for many yeares past in which time your Petrs: have alwayes faithfully and diligently behave themselves
in their severall Stations and (with humble Submission) with as much Skill and Successe as any of their profession
any time have done.

That without any Just Cause (knowne to your Petr.) the Governors: of the said Hospitall on Wednesday the
10th. of the Instant March were pleased to displace your Petrs: for their respective Imployments and have appoint
Wednesday the 24th. of this Instant March for the Eleccon of a Physitian and Surgeon in your Petrs: Roome
as your Petrs. are informed.

That your Peticonrs not being conscions that they have merited this hard Treatment but on the contrary
for the good Services by them performed in the said Hospitall, and especially for their Care of the sick and
wounded in the Marr, deseve rall Incouragement.

Your Petrs. therefore most humbly pray your Majesty will be
gratiously pleased (as Visitor of the said Hospitall) to Order
the said Governors. to for bear makeing ant Elecon of a Physitian
their Councill at this most Hounble Board agt. the said Order for
displaceing your Petionrs.

And your Petrs shall ever pray Etc.

At the Court of St: James's 23th. March 1702

Order thereupon

Upon Reading this day at the Board the peticon of Doctor Richard and Torlesses< no role > Thomas Elton< no role >
Surgeon setting forth That they have been Physitian and Surgeonsetting forth that they have been
[..] to her Majties: Hospitall of St: Thomas in Southwark for many yeares past That without any
Just Cause knowne to the Peticoners the Governors of the said Hospitall on the 10th. of this March were
Lease to displace the Pet from their respective Imployment and have appointed the 24th of this Month
for the Election of a Physitian and Surgeon in the Peticoners Roome and humbly praying that the said
Governors be ordered to for bear makeing any Eleccon of Physitian and Surgeon in the Petr. places untill
they shall be heard by their Councill at this Board, Her Majesty in Councill is please to Order as
it is hereby Ordered That the Governors of the said Hospitall doe to Elect a Physician [..]
and Surgeon in the Petrs: places untill her Majesty shall declare her further pleasure therein It being
her Majesties Royall Intencons to hear this Matter in Councill and to Order timely Notice to be
given to all persons concerned that they may give their Attendance and some prepared accordingly
