WE, Whose Hands and Seals are hereunto set, Two of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace in
and for the County of Middlesex (one whereof being of the Quorum) inhabiting in or next
unto the Limits of the Parish Church of St. Andrew Holborn , having met together, and heard the
Complaint of the Overseers of the Poor of that Part of the Parish of St. Andrew Holborn which lies
above the Bars, in the County of Middlesex , and the Parish of St. George the Martyr in the said
Counyt, concerning a Male Bastard Child, baptized Sidney< no role > born
of the Body of Marsha Page< no role > Singlewoman within the said part of the said parish of St.
Andrew Holborn- which is become chargeable thereto, and is so likely to continue, Do, upon the
Examination of the said Martha Page< no role > . taken upon Oath before us, find and adjudge the said
Complaint to be true-And we do also find, upon the Oath the said Martha Page< no role >
that Henry Smith< no role > now Waiter to Mr. Benson of Hand Court in the said County of Middlesex did
beget on the Body of her the said Marsha Pages- the said Male Bastard Child. AND
WHEREAS we have summoned the said Henry Smith< no role > - to appear before us this Day to
answer the said Complaint, and shew Cause why he should not be adjudged the putative Father of the
said Male Bastard Child; and the said Henry Smith< no role > having appeared to
answer the said Complaint, and having, shewn no Cause why he should not be adjudged the putative
Father of the said Male Bastard child-WE the said Justices, upon Examination upon Oath of
the said Martha [..] and on Proof being [..]
the said Summons, and other Circumstances appearing unto us, Do adjudge him the said Henry
Smith
< no role > to be the putative Father of the said Male Bastard Child, and do order and appoint
and forthwith, upon Notice of this our Order, to pay or cause to be paid to the said Overseers of
the Poor, the Sum of One Pound Eleven Shillings & Eight Pence of lawful Money
of Great Britain, by them already expended in the Relief and Maintenance of the said Male Bastard
Child, and other Expences attending the same-AND ALSO that he the said Henry Smith< no role >
shall Weekly, and every Week from henceforth, pay or cause to be paid to the said Overseers of the
Poor of the said Part of the said Parish of Saint Andrew Holborn and the said Parish of St. George the
Martyr Two Shillings for and towards the Relief and Maintenance of the said
Male Bastard Child for so long Time as the same shall remain chargeable to the said Part of the
said Parish of St. Andrew Holborn and the said Parish of St. George the Martyr .GIVEN under
our Hand and Seals this
And We do further Order that the said Marsha Page
shall also pay or cause to be paid to the Overseers of the Poor of the said Part of the said parish
of Saint Andrew Holborn and the said parish of Saint George the Martyr the sum of Six Pence
Weekly and every Week so long as the said Male Bastard Child shall he and remain chargeable
to the said part of the said Parish of Saint Andrew Holborn and the said parish of Saint George the
Martyr in case she shall not Nurses and take care of the said Male Bastard Child herself Given
under our Hands and Seals at the Public office in Hatton Garden the Twenty Seventh day of May one
thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety nine
