By Adjournment Thursday 31st. May 1781
The Orders made at the last Session of the peace holden
for this County concerning the declaration of a Vacancy in the officers
of Cryer of the Court of Sessions of the peace
for this County and House
keeper at Hicks Hall and the appointment of the Election of a proper
person to the said offices to be decided this day by Ballot to begin at
the hour of One and to Close at Three being called for and read and the
Petition of Mr Edward Hall< no role >
to be appointed to the said offices and a
Letter from His Grace the Duke of Northumberland Custos Rotulorum
of this County recommending the said Mr Edward Hall< no role >
to the
favour of His Majestys Justices of the peace being also read [..]
Motion was made that Mr Edward Hall< no role >
be appointed to the
offices of Cryer of the Court of Sessions of the peace and Session of oyer &
Terminer for this County and House keeper at Hicks Hall Whereupon
His Majesty's Justices of the peace proceeded to Ballot and at the Hour
of Three (being the him appointed for closing the Ballot) having closed
the Ballot And appointed Jeremiah Bentham< no role > This name instance is in set 2192.

thereof the said Scrutineers withdrew and being returned Reported
the State of the Ballot as follows vizt. that 27 of his Majestys

. Whereupon it was moved that Mr.
Edward Hall< no role >
is duly Elected Cryer of the Court of Sessions
of the
peace for this County and Housekeeper
at Hicks Hall
