The Voluntary Examination upon Oath of
John Markwick< no role > Turnkey of Clerkenwell
Bridewell

Who Saith that he well knows the person of John Anderton< no role >
now a Convict under Sentence of Death in Newgate that the said
Anderton was received into Clerkenwell Bridewell under a Commitment
on the 6th. day of February last that he remained in the said prison till
the 26th. or 27th. of the Same Month that during a great part of that
time was very sick and towards the End of the Term was sovery ill
indeed that this deponent spoke to Mr. Edward Hall< no role > the Governor of
the said Bridewell to get him discharged on account of his ill State
of health That on the Twenty Sixth day of February a Warrant for
the discharge of the said Anderton was lodged with this Deponent
and that about Dusk on Evening of the said Twenty Sixth or
Twenty Seventh day of February but which this Deponent cannot
upon his Oath Particularly ascertain (though he is certain as to the
said Andertons being in the Prison on the Evening of the Twenty Sixth of
February aforesaid) the said Anderton was discharged And this deponent
further Saith that the said Andeerton when discharged was so Weak
through illness that he could searely walk or Support himself.

Sworn before us two of his Majestys Justices
the peace for the said County at the Bridewell aforesaid
