being Constable was going down to the Wate house
and heard a Cry of Murder and a Knocking
of Sticks that he went to the Turnpike House
and Called the Turnpike Man and Desired him
to go up along with him and see what was the
Matter that he declined going and gave as a
Reason that it was a Parcell of [..] Bogues got togr.
to Call people to Rob them and that he had
frequently heard such Cries in the Night time
that the Witness then went to the Watchouse
& that when the Watchmenwenthad began their Bounds
they brought in the News of the Deced being very Ill
Used and Cut and Mangled in the Fields says
that the deceased was brought Homeandand the
Witness went directly to see how he did and found
him Lying on his Back upon some Pillows on
the floor that the Witness asked him have the
Accident happened that he told him he was
Attacked by two persons who Attemped to Rob
him that he Answered he would not be Robbed
