Can't say.In 1763 about 16 died in
a Month.

How Many Rooms are there in Newgate ?

Can't say exactly.

Do you think those 16 died of one Distemper
the Gaol Distemper ?

One or two might die otherwise, but
Generally thought they died of the Gaol
Distemper

When full there may have been 30.

I did they desired me to apply to Gentn.
of Hospitals,who attended for a short Time &
then refused .

to Newgate ?

No I believe its in all the Gaols.

Did the Gentm . of the faculty give reason
for not attending, was it for fear of the
Distemper ?

Apothecary said he would not endanger
his Life on any Accot. whatsoever.

Has the Apothecary any Fees ?

No.

I there any Person appointed to attend.?

Mr. Blackden does attend & the City make
him a Satisfaction he has no Salary.

Who takes Inquisitions upon Death ?

the Coroner of London .
