Thomas James< no role > of Exeter Exchange Court Marshals Officer Says that
the same Day Time & Place He saw Talbot & Mc Carty in Princes Street aforesd & was
One of severall who layd hold on McCarty in Assistance to Talbott for an arrest by
Marshallsea Process for ninety four Shillings & six pence: That they all went into
the sd Kings Head tap room, where Talbot & McCarty did Seperate from these who had
had hold of McCarty as tho' McCarty would make Satisfaction who moved his hand
towards his Breeches Pockett but instead of Money McCarty drew forth a Knife of
9 Inches in the Blade & thrust the same Blade into the Body of William Talbot< no role > &
drew It out again further says that He had heard McCarty say he was Determined to kill
any one who should arrest [..] Him

The wound McCarty gave Talbott is under his left Arm about the Levell with his
Breast

Basil Fielding Palmer< no role > of Fleet Street in the City of London Assistant
Officer Say's the same Day, Year & Place Talbot sent this Deponent to fetch him
some help, for he had done the Business yt. he had to do with McCarty & this Dept
brought Peter King< no role > Tom James Wm Sheppard< no role > & Wm Powell< no role > & they all came
up with McCarty in Princes Street , Talbot told McCarty he had Execution
against him & that now he must go, The above named, Kings James,
Sheppard & Powell took each hold of some part of McCarty's person or Cloths
& brought him into the sd Kings Head Whose this Depont. very soon after saw
McCarty thrust the blade of a Knife 9 Inches long beside Handle into the
Body & draw It out again and Dept. saw Talbott drop down & heard him say
I have gott It The wound is under Talbotts left Arm about the Levell of his
Breast

Three men who called themselves Surgeons did attend but neither
would prove the wound with out being paid, for that they might be obliged
to attend the old Bayly ; They were answered there was no fund [..] appointed
for that purpose & that the said wido of the deced was not in Circumstances.
