The King against Bagchott for perjury.

James Powell< no role > of the Towne of Bergavenny in the County of Monmouth
Gentleman maketh Oath, That on or about the Seventeenth day of
September now last past at Bergavenny aforesaid, John Williams< no role >
One of the prosecutors in this Cause did then and there tell this deponent
that he was soon going for London to give his Evidence against
the said Mr Bagehott on the bill of Indictment found there
against him the sd Mr Bagehott for perjury, and this deponent alsoe
Saith, That the Said John Williams< no role > somewhat above a fortnight
agoe went accordingly For London as it was generally reported at
Bergavenny aforesaid and was not returned to Bargavenny aforesaid
on the second day of October now Instant (on which day this deponent
sett out for London as a Wittness for the defendant) as this deponent
verily believes, for had the said John Williams< no role > Returned thither
by that day, this deponent should have seen him or heard of his
Returne, as this deponent verily believes And this deponent Further maketh Oath That he this
deponent was yesterday assessed at the suit of Mr John Dakeyne< no role >
who is sollicitor for the prosecutor in this Cause and One of the
Wittnesses to the bill of Indictment found against the said Defendant
and detained in Custody untill he paid into the hands of the
Officer who arrested this deponent the summe of Seventeen
pounds ten Shillings and Six pence, And This deponent Fur [..]
saith That Peter Davies< no role > (one other of the Wittnesses to the Said bill
of Indictment against the Dependant) went from Bergavenny aforesaid
towards London aforesaid in or about the Month of may last
and hath not Returned to Bergavenny aforesaid, nor doth this
deponent know where the said Peter Davies< no role > now Resides,
but this deponent hath been Credibly informed that the said
Peter Davies< no role > was in London last week, And this deponent alsoe
saith That soon after the said John Williams< no role > had told this
deponent he was coming for London of aforesaid, he this deponent
[..] by some friends let the sd Mr Bagehott the Dependant
know thereof
