Upon reading the appeale of the Church wardens & Overseers
of the poor of the parish of Ashford in the County of Kent against
an Order Under the hands & seales of Henry Box< no role > & Timothy
Lanney< no role > Esqrs . two of his Maties. Justices of the peace for the
County of Middx bearing date the thirtyeth day of May
one thousand seven hundred & sixteen , which appeale
setsforth that Thomas Benjamin< no role > Labourer Martha < no role > his
[..] three Children (viz.) Jacob < no role > aged ten years
& upwards Thomas < no role > aged about nine years & Christian < no role > aged
about two years were on the fourth day of February
now last past removed by the said Order from the parish of
Chiswick in the sd. County of Middx to the sd. Parish of
Ashford in the County of Kent as the place of their last
legall settlemt. In which Order it is expressed that the sd.
Thomas Benjamin by vertue of a Certificate under the
hands & Seales of the Churchwardens & Overseers of the
poor of the sd. Parish of Ashford subscribed & allowed by
two Justices of the peace had been permitted to come &
reside in the sd. parish of Chiswick about the space of
fourteen years last past for his better maintenance &
lively hood but as the family of the said Thomas Benjamin
in increased soe as he is not able to maintain them without
