June 1795.

"And the visiting Magistrates desire further to apprize the Court that
"since the last Session The Revd. Mr Owen who has long Officiated as
"Chaplain to the House of Correction is retired to the Country and three
"Gentlemen have been requested to do Duty at the Chapel for the three successive
"Sundays with a view of presenting themselves to the Approbation of the
"Magistrates as his Successor, one of the Gentlemen The Reverend Mr.
"Fancourt did the Duty on the Sunday before last in the presence of the
"visiting and other Magistrates, and the visiting Justices beg leave to
"add that he appears to them to possess every Qualification fitted for that
"important function: At the same time they desire to be understood not to
"prejudice the pretensions of the other Gentlemen whose merits they make no
"Doubt may be equal to those of any other.

Resolved that the thanks of the Court be given to Thomas
Collins
< no role > Esqr . for his attention to the said Prison.

Resolved that Edmund Pepys< no role > Esqr . be appointed visiting Magistrate
together with Nathaniel Conant< no role > Esqr . till the next Session.

By Adjournment same day

The Chairman having stated to the Court that Mr Mylne the
Surveyor of the New River Company had informed him that the Company
were ready and desirous of paying the Rent due from them for the Liberty of
laying their Water Pipes in a part of the Ground purchased by this County for
the purpose of building the New House of Correction Resolved that Mr.
Hinley do forthwith apply to them and to the other persons making use of
other parts of the said Ground for the Rents or Sums of Money due from
them respectively to the said County.

By Adjournment same day.

The Following Letter was received from Lord Cholmondely and
was Ordered to be entered amongst the Orders of Court Vizt.
