May 1795.

Resolved that the Salary due to the Persons passing the
Vagrants up to the day of the Appointment of the New Contractor be
paid to the Representatives of the late Contractor or to the Person who
had passed them up to the day of such Appointment at the Rate at
which the said Henry Adams< no role > This name instance is in set 1591. was paid for the same.

And It having been represented to the court that due
attention had not been paid to the manner of conducting Vagrants
passed in the time of the late Contractor Henry Adams< no role > This name instance is in set 1591. .

Resolved that Vagrants passed from and through this County
be conveyed in Custody pursuant to the Order of Session made
relating thereto.

By Adjournment same day.

The Report of the visiting Magistrates at the New House of
Correction being read Vizt.

The Report of Mr Clarke and Mr Collins visiting
Magistrates at the House of Correction . 21st. May 1795.

It may be expected by the Court that We should go at
large into the several Particulars to which our attention as visiting
Magistrates are directed, as we do not wish to take up the time of the
Court, shall confine ourselves to the particular heads.

That the Prison is in a state of Security.

The Governor has since the last Sessions slept in the prison
and continued so to do until 7th. Instant, was absent from the
Prison, until the 17th. by Sickness.

The Prisoners are kept clean properly maintain'd and in
health.

The Prisoners are instructed and employ'd in different
branches of Trade, are obedient to their Keepers and attentive to their
employers, are free from the vice of Swearing, having during our visits
made particular enquiry respecting their moral behaviour.
