also informed the Court that the
Great North Road had been so much flooded for Six Weeks in the
last Winter that the Mail Coaches and other Carriages travelling the
said Road had during all the above time been under the necessity of
going over the Road and Bridge mentioned in the Presentment the
other Road being impassable: That two Persons had been drowned
near the Bridge
since the last Survey taken by the County
Treasurer
Surveyor
, and several other circumstances respecting the said Road and
Bridge
being stated to the Court.
It was Moved and Seconded That the said Bridge called
Maiden Bridge< no role >
be considered and deemed a County Bridge and that
the same be forthwith repaired or rebuilt by the County and the
Question being put thereupon it was Resolved in the Affirmative
and it was further Resolved that Mr Rogers the County Surveyor do
go down to Enfield
to view the said Bridge and report his Opinion
thereon to the Court.
