The following Petition from Lydia Adams< no role > being laid before the
Court and read as follows Vizt.

To The Worshipful William Mainwaring< no role > Esqr . and the rest of His
Majestys Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex in Sessions
Assembled.

The Petition of Lydia Adams< no role > of Islington in
the County of Middlesex . Spinster .

Sheweth.

That Your Petitioner is the Daughter of James Sturges< no role >
Adams the first Contractor and Sister of Henry Adams< no role > This name instance is in set 1591. the last Contractor
for conveying Vagrants in the County of Middlesex and hath during all
her life been devoted to the service of the County in superintending the
Home Department of the Contractor.

That by a coincidence of Misfortunes your Petitioner is
deprived of the means of support, and having lost the use of two Fingers
she is unable to maintain herself by manual labour.

That while your Petitioner was possessed of Property she
afforded pecuniary assistance to her aforesaid Brother to the utmost
extent of her Ability and in the year 1791 she accommodated him with an
Hundred Pounds towards the Expences of the Barracks which by directions
of the Magistrates were erected at Islington for the reception of Vagrants
and which are now become useless.

Your Petitioner therefore humbly prays
Your Worships to grant her such
Remuneration as to your Worships shall
seem meet.

Resolved that it be referred to the Committee of Accounts to
inquire into the Petition of the said Lydia Adams< no role > and to view the
Building provided for the Accommodation of the Vagrants mentioned in
her Petition and Report their Opinion thereon to the Court.
