And having informed the Court that the said Committee had
maturely considered the claims made by Mr Odell and were
Unanimously of Opinion that the Sum of £226..16..0 contained
therein for 504 Rods of Brickwork and the Sum of £91..7..10½ for
14.623 Superficial flat pointing to soffield of Groin Arches the
joints not struck should be paid and that the other two C0harges of
£15..15..0 and £12..12..0 ought not to be paid

Ordered that the said Sum of £226..16..0 and £91..7..10½
be paid to Mr. Odell and that the Clerk of the Peace do issue an
Order upon Mr Hinley, Treasurer of the Monies received for defraying
the Expence of building the said House of Correction for payment thereof
and that the other two Charges be disallowed.

The following Report of the visiting Magistrates Vizt. Aaron
Graham Esqr. and Rupert Clarke< no role > Esqr . was read in the following
Words Vizt.

In offering any Observations to this Court, it may perhaps
be expected that we should go at large into the several particulars
to which our attention as visiting Magistrates of the New House of
Correction was directed; But as most of them have already beenso
very ably Reported upon by our late worthy Colleague Mr Colquhoun
and are still under consideration; We shall, in order not to interrupt
their being decided upon as speedily as possible, avoid introducing much
new matter, and content ourselves for the present with simply
answering the Questions, which by the Rules and Regulations are
stated to be the principal objects of our enquiry: And first as to

"Whether the Prison is in a state of
"Security?"

We can say, that as far as safety may depend upon Locks
Bolts and Bars, it is, in our opinion, secure: but as the constant
residence of the Governor is the only perfect Security that this Court.
