Order for a
Circular Letter to
be written to the
Magistrates of the
County & Stewards
of Courts Leet re-
commending that
no Publican shod.
be elected or sworn
in a Constable}

It was moved by Mr Faikney and Seconded by Dr. Mayo
That a circular Letter be written by the Clerk of the Peace to His
Majestys Justices of the peace for the County of Middlesex and to the
Stewards of the Courts Leet within The Tower Division, Holborn
Division and Finsbury Division in this County inclosing a Copy
of the following Order of Sessions Vizt. " Recommended that
"his Majestys Justices of the Peace of this County do take Care that
"no person who keeps a Public Alehouse be sworn before them into the
"Office of Petty Constable or Headborough, and also to suppress every
"Beadle within their respective DIvisions that keeps as alehouse
"agreeable to the Order of Session of Feb. 1694." and requesting
their very strict attention to the same in the appointment of
Constables for the ensuing Year, and the same was unanimously
agreed to.
