Inquiries of Commee upon Ground
laid before the Court}

The several Inquiries made by "The Committee appointed to inquire
"whether the whole or what part of Mr Jervoise's Ground in Cold Bath Fields
"could be obtained Etc for the purpose of erecting a New House of
"Correction thereon" being laid before the Court.

most proper for a Ho: of Corrn.}

Resolved That the Ground belonging to Jervoise Clarke
Jervoise
< no role > Esqr . and others in Cold Bath Fields is the most proper Spot
that can be found on which to erect a House of Correction for this
County

and agree for the same at a
reasonable price}

and Refused by the proprietors}


For more Justices appd. to proceed
agreeable to the directions of ye. Act
of the 24th. Geo; IIId}

Resolved That the Chairman be and he is hereby appointed
to treat with the said Jerviose Clarke Jervoise Esqr. and such other
persons as may be interested therein for the purchase of the Ground in
Cold Bath fields , and to contract for the same if the owners thereof shall
agree to sell at a reasonable Price and Sir Robert Taylor< no role > Mr Paine, Mr.
Leroux, Mr Holland and such other Professional Gentlemen as the Chairman
shall desire are requested to assist him in fixing the Value of the said
Ground And if the said Jervoise Clarke Jervoise Esqr. or the other
Proprietor or Proprietors thereof shall Require a larger Sum than shall
be thought a fair Price for the same that then a Tender be made of such
Price as may be thought reasonable and in Case of refusal thereof
That Sir Robert Taylor Mr Paine , Mr Holland and Mr Leroux or any
two of them Do cause the Value to be set thereon by a Jury and
pursue such other Steps as are in such Cases directed by the Act of
Parliament made in the Twenty fourth year of the reign of His
present Majesty intitled "an Act for the amending and rendering
more Effectual the Laws in being relative to Houses of Correction"

Resolved that the following Resolution made in
September Session One thousand Seven hundred and Eighty
three Vizt.
