The Votes of the House of Commons
of Monday
the 20th. day of December 1779 being laid before this Court and
the following orders and Resolutions appearing therein vizt.
Ordered that Sir Grey Cooper< no role >
do make the Report
"from the Committee of the wholl House to whom it was referred
"to Consider further of the supply granted to his Majesty
"Sir Grey Cooper accordingly reported from the said
"Committee the Resolutions which the Committee had directed
"to be Reported to the House which he read in his place and afterwards
"delivered in at the Table when the same were read and agreed to
"by the House and are as followeth vizt.
"Resolved that a Sum not Exceeding One thousand
"Two hundred Pounds be granted to his Majesty to be paid to
"William Smith< no role >
Doctor of Physic
in Recompence for his con [..]
and humane attendance upon the Sick and diseased Prisoners
"in the several Goals in the County of Middlesex
City of Westmr
"and Borough of Southwark
for near four years last past and for
"repaying to the said William Smith< no role >
the several Sums of Money
"by him Expended in purchasing proper medicines for such
"Sick and diseased Prisoners
And this Court upon Examination intoconceiving that the
Circumstance of such attendance being satisfied thatthe said
William Smith< no role >
hath not within the last 4 Years or at any other
time given constant attendance upon the Sick and diseased
Prisoners in the several Goals in the County of Middlesex
and
City of Westminster
nor hath been at much if any Expence in
purchasing proper medicines for such Sick and diseased
Prisoners and as there now is and for more than 4 Years
last past hath been able and Skillful Surgeons or Apothecaries
appointed to take care of the Sick and inform Prisoners in [..]
