December 1777

At this Court the Order made at the last Session Vizt.
"whereas it is a general Complaint that several of his Majestys Justices
"of the peace for this County have directed and intrusted and Yet do
"direct and intrust the Execution of their Warrants to persons who are
"neither regular Constables nor Headboroughs whereby many inconveniencies
"have arisen and which (in many of the Cases where it has been done) is
"conceived contrary to Law Resolved that it be and it is hereby
"Seriously Recommended to his Majestys Justices of the peace for this County
"that from henceforth no Justice do direct or Entrust the Execution of a
"Warrant by him granted to any person who is not a legal Constable or
"Headborough unless in Cases of the most urgent kind and when the
"necessity for such conduct is well made out to the Satisfaction of the Justice
"and the same being carried unanimously in the affirmative It was
"Moved that the said Resolution be a standing Order of Court which
"was also agreed to unanimously" being read and the same standing
for Consifirmation pursuant to the Standing Order in that Case
It is Ordered that it be and the same is hereby confirmed

By adjournment same day

The following Report of the Committee appointed to carry into
immediate and Effectual Execution the repair of New Prison and the House
of Correction at Clerkenwell being laid before this Court and the same being
Read Vizt.

their General Session Assembled

The Report of the Committee appointed
to carry into immediate and Effectual Execution
the Repair of New prison and the House of
Correction at Clerkenwell

The said Committee Report

That having taken into Consideration the Order of
reference to them made Vizt. to inquire into the allegations contained in the
petition of Mr. Thomas Gibbes< no role > Surgeon and Apothecary to New prison
and if they found to be Just and True to consider what addition
ought.
