The Said Committee further Report
That having taken into consideration whether Hicks Hall New
Prison and the House of Correction
or all or any of the said Buildings
an insured from Damage by Fire and if not where in what Sums and
for what Time the said Building ought respectively to be Insured
They find that Hicks Hall is insured in the Westminster
Insurance
Office in the Sum of £1000 for 7 Years that the Policy is in the Name of
the late Mr James Jefferson< no role >
in trust for Thomas Lane< no role >

and Paul Galliard< no role >

and is dated the 2nd Augst. 1771 That the new
Erection at New Prison
is insured by Joseph Wood< no role >
the Contractor for the
Bricklayer
and Carpenters Work in the Repair of New Prison
in the
Sum of £1000 whereupon it was ordered by the Committee that the said
Joseph Wood< no role >
do assign and transfer the said Policy of Insurance to
Mr Charles Eyles< no role >
the Clerk
of the Committee in trust for the County
of Middlesex
That the House of Correction
at Clerkenwell
is not at
present insured nor does it appear to the Committee that it ever has been
insured wherefore the Clerk of the Committee is ordered to Insure the
same in the Sum of £1500.
The Said Committee further Report.
That having taken into Consideration what things are proper
to be procured for the celebration of Divine Service at New Prison
out of
what fund the same should be provided in whose care reposed and how
often and by whom the Surplice shall be washed and to order and procure
the same and it appearing to the Committee that the following things
are proper for the purpose aforesaid (vizt) a Large Bible and Common
Prayer Book for the Chaplain, half a dozen common prayer Books
for the use of the Prisoners, a Surplice a Temporary Desk, Half a
