And if the Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex have not power
under this Act to Repair Hicks Hall then how and by what other means can
the said Justices rate and Assess the County for this purpose: It was agreed
that the same should be reported to the Justices in Session Assembled and
further the Committee Recommend it to them to have the said case laid
immediately before Counsel in order to obtain an Opinion thereon

The Said Committee further Report

That having taken into consideration what pecuniary compensation
is necessary to be made to Messrs Scott and Palmer the two Surveyors
whom Mr Rogers took to his Assistance under the Order of Court of Septemr
Session last to view the boundary Walls of New Prison referred to this
Committee by an order of Court made on the County day of the last Session

The said Committee have directed the Clerk of the Committee to give
two Guineas to each of the said Surveyors for their trouble in viewing the
boundary Walls of New Prison and reporting their opinion thereof

The Said Committee further Report.

That having taken into consideration Mr Crawfords Memorial
respecting the Encroachment on the East Boundary Wall of New Prison
and what is necessary to be done in respect of the said Encroachment referred
to this Committee by an order of court made on the County day of the last
Session the Committee proceeded [..] ad Mr Crawfords Memorial and
Resolved that Mr Thomas Rogers< no role > the Committees Surveyor be authorized
to meet any Surveyor whom Mr Crawford shall appoint to view the West
part of a new Building used as a Smelling House lately erected on the East
Boundary Wall belonging to the Estate of the County of Middlesex at
Clerkenwell in order to form an opinion whether the said New Building
be an encroachment or not and how far and in what Manner the said
Erection is an Encroachment according to the proposals contained in the said
