The Clerk of the Peace Reported to this Court That he had since the last Session
of the Peace holden for this County returned into the Court of Exchequer the
Estreats which the late Clerk of the Peace had neglected to return with those
respites made which were ordered by the Court at the last Session

An Act of Parliament having been made in the present Year of his present
Majesty King George the third authorizing and empowering His Majesty is
Justices of the Peace or the Major part of them Assembled at the Quarter Session
held for any County Riding or Division within that part of Great Britain called
England to settle and ascertain how many Clergymen shall be necessary to be
employed in performing Religious Duties according to the Rites of the Church of
the Church of England in the several Goals within their respective Jurisdictions
and to settle and ascertain what Duty shall be performed and what Salary shall
be paid to every such Clergyman not exceeding Fifty Pounds Yearly and every
Year directing also such salaries to be paid out of the Rates of such County
Riding or Division And further authorizing and impowering the said
Justices (the number of Clergymen and Salary or Salaries having been so
as aforesaid settled and ascertained) to nominate and appoint Clergymen
for the above purposes and in case of Death or Death of any such Clergyman
