At the General Quarter Session of the Peace of our Lord the King begun
and holden for the County of Middlesex at Westminster in the same County on
Thursday in the week next after the feast of Saint Michael to wit the fifth
day of October in the Ninth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George
the Third by the Grace of God King of Great Britain Etc And from thence
continued by several Adjournments until and holden on Saturday the Twenty
first day of the same Month of October in the year abovesaid at Hicks Hall
in Saint John Street in the Same County Before John Hawkins< no role > Esquire
John Spencer Colepeper< no role > Saunders Welch< no role > Esquires and others their fellows
Justices of our said Lord the King Assigned to keep his Majesty's Peace
in the County aforesaid and also to hear and determine divers Felonies
Trespasses and other misdemeanors committed in the same County.

Whereas at this present Session an Order was delivered to John Hawkins< no role >
Esquire the Chairman sitting in Court In the Words following (that is to
say)" Middx, at the Delivery of the Kings Gaol of Newgate holden for
"the County of Middlesex at Justice hall in the Old Bailey in the Suburbs of
"the City of London by adjournment on Thursday the nineteenth day of
"October in the ninth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the
"Third now King of Great Britain Etc and in the year of our Lord One
"Thousand Seven hundred sixty nine It is Ordered by this Court that it be
"Immediately notified to the Justices at Hicks Hall that the Indictments
"from thence are so often defective that there are frequent Interruptions in
"the proceedings upon them and that of late several Offenders have escaped
"Justice by such defects By the Court" And Whereas divers and sunday
Complaints of Suitors of this Court against James Waller< no role > Esquire Clerk
of the Peace of this County Charging him with Misbehaviour in his said
Office have been lately made to this Court Upon consideration of the premisses
It is Ordered that it be and it is hereby uncommended and referred to Sir
Thomas Robinson< no role > Baronet John Spencer< no role > Colepeper Bartholomew Hammond
Saunders Welch< no role > . James Hubbald< no role > , Jeremiah Bentham< no role > This name instance is in set 2192. and Thomas Edmonds< no role >
Esquires Justices of this County here present and to any three or more of
them to Enquire into the causes of the said Complaints And to Report their
Opinion to the Court on the County day of the next Session.
