and Mr. Browne and his father attended but had made no
Estimate of the Said Works, And the Committee being of opinion
that a Stop Should be immediately made to prevent Barges
and other Crafts from going through the Said large Arck of
the Said Bridge to prevent the damage above mentioned
Therefore the Committee ordered Mr. Browne imediately to
do the Several particulars hereafter mentioned and likewise
Ordered the Said large Arch to be Stopped up on both Sides on
Friday the eleventh day of the Same Month of January and
Ordered that publick Notice Should be given in the News Papers
(vizt.) to be put twice in the daily Advertiser, twice in the
Whitehall Qoening Post, and twice in the London Qoening
Post, and to print two hundred Notices and to Send a person
up the River Thames to disperse and Stick the Said Notices
up at all Towns Villages Bridges and Locks as far as the
Lock above Maidenhead for the better Notification of the Same
And that as the Season of the Year will not permit a thorough
Repair, the Committee will appoint another time to receive an
Estimate and give further directions as the Court Shall further
Order and direct, The Particulars above mentioned necessary
to be done immediately to the Middx part of Chertsea
Bridge for the present Security of the Same are as fellow,
To take the Gravel of the Angle on the lower side of the Bridge
To put a piece or pieces of Timber on the South Side of the
Bridge in Order to Oblige the Carriages to pass On the Northside
And to take of part of the Gravel On the Lowerside in Order
to lenghten that part.

To put the remaining piles which are new displaced Under
the Trussell Heads And to raise that next the Barge Pier to
it's former level,

To put Braces & pieces of Oak and plank to be fixed
Against & between the piles where wanted to secure them
To as to prevent any further immediate Damage.

To fix two Booms One above and the other below the Bridge
to prevent Any Barges or Boats passing through the
Middlesex Pier till a General Repair of the same.

This Court upon Consideration had of the said Report doth
Confirm the same, And Doth order that the Matters above
