At a Meeting of his Majesty< no role > 's Justices of the Peace for the County
of Middx (to wit) Thomas Lane< no role > , Edward Barker< no role > , John Milner< no role > ,
Nicholas Jeffreys< no role > , Robert Hucks< no role > Thomas Burdus< no role > , Rober Dennett,
John Elliot< no role > This name instance is in set 3963. , Nathaniel Chandler< no role > , Thomas Moore< no role > John Poulson< no role > Esquires
and divers others Justices of the Peace at Hicks Hall on Monday the
27th. Day of February 1743, for the Purposes herein after mentioned.

For the effectual putting in Execution the Laws made against
Papists , reputed Papists and Non Jurors, and for preventing and
Suppressing all Riots, Tumults and unlawful Assemblies, In Obedience
to his Majesty< no role > 's Commands Signifyed by a Letter of the 24th. Day of
February 1743. from the Lords of his Majesty< no role > 's Most honourable Privy
Council to his Grace the Duke of Newcastle Custos Rotulorum of this
County, His Majesty< no role > 's Justices of the Peace now Assembled are of
Opinion and do recommend it to the Justices of the Peace of the Said
County to Observe and Pursue the Rules and Directions herein after
Specifyed (vizt.)

That the Justices do meet as soon assoonas possible in their Several
Divisions.

And that they give Directions to Constables, Headboroughs and
Bedles to taken an Accompt of all Papists, Non Jurors and other
disaffected Persons or Suspected to be Such as well Lodgers as
House keepers, and to return a List of their Christian Names and
Surnames and places of Abode in Writing upon Oath at Such time
and place as the Justices in their respective Divisions Shall appoint.

On Such retorns the Justices to consider what Persons So retorned
are fit to be Summoned, and to make their Warrants to Summon
Such Persons accordingly, inserting their Names in Such Summons
or in Lists to be annexed thereunto.

When they appear on Summons the Justices to tender them the
Oaths, and to proceed to Conviction against Such as refuse to take the
Same or make default in not appearing after due Summons, and
to retorn the Convictions to the next Quarter Sessions.

As to removing them ten Miles from London and Confining
them to their Habitations The Justices are to pursue the Acts of
Parliament recited in the abovesaid Letter.
