great Numbers of his Maties Subjects have been
encouraged to assemble & meet together, and to
committ riots & other misdemeanors in breach of
his Maties peace, and to the disturbance of the
Neighbourhood of that place, And that some of the said
players of Interludes & other evil disposed persons are
now seeking out & contracting for ground in or near the
place aforesaid as well as in other parts of this County
to build booths for shewing & acting such plays and
Drolls & other shows, and for carrying on &
encourageing of divers kinds of unlawfull play &
gameing, And whereas all such players of Interludes
are deemed & declared Rogues & Vagabonds, and the
acting of such plays, drolls & other shows, and the
keeping of Publick gameing tables or gameing houses
are contrary to the Laws & Statutes of this Realm, and
do manifestly & directly tend to the encouragement
of vice & immorality, and to the debauching &
ruining of Servants Apprentices & others as well as
to the disturbance of the publick peace by occasioning
quarrells, riots, tumults & other disorders, For the
preventing of which mischeifts for the future It is
thought fit and ordered by this Court that the high
Constable of Holborn Division in this County do
forthwith issue fourth forth his precepts to the Petty
Constables of Tattenhoe als Tattenhall als Tottenham
Court and other the Constables & Headboroughs of the
said parish of St. Pancras requireing them in case
any of the said comon Players of Interludes or
others shall act exhibite or shew any such plays
Drolls or other shows or keep any gameing houses or
gameing tables, to apprehend and carry all persons
apprehended before one or more of his Majesties
Justices of the peace for this County dwelling nearest
to the places where any Such Booths or gameing
houses or gameing tables shall be erected or erecting
