Phillips Gentleman high Constable of the Tower
Division in the said County hath exhibited his humble
Petition unto this Court on this twenty fourth day of
February instant Setting forth that he hath received
a Warrant under the hands of the said Thomas Robe< no role >
and John Matthews< no role > Clerkes of the Markett of his
Majestyes Household and under their Comon Seal thereby
commanding the said high Constable to Issue out his
precepts to the Constables of Church End and Hoxton,
the Liberty of Holywell Street, More feilds & Norton
Falgate in his Division for the severall purposes in
the said Warrant contained, And the said High
Constable being doubtfull how farr the Clerks of the
Markett hath power and authority by the Laws of
this Realm to make out such Warrant he therefore
humbly prayed the direction of this Court how
to demean himselfe in regard to the Execution of
the said Warrant And upon produceing the aforesaid
Warrant (which beares date on the twenty third day
of February instant) It appeares that the precepts
of the said high Constable to be Issued according to
the direction of the said Warrant were to require the
said Constables to Warn Sixteen Sufficient men to
appeare before the said Clerks of the Markett
or their sufficient Deputy at a Court to be holden
on Tuesday the fourteenth day of March next at
the Sign of the Kings Arms Tavern in Shoreditch by
ten of the clock in the forenoon of the same day to
serve as Jurors at their said Court for the examining of
Wrights and Measures, and to inquire into & present
all a buses in Weights or Measures with such other
Matters and Things whereof the said Clerkes of
the Markett have power by the said Letters Patent
to inquire into, and that the said Constables
