Order touching the
Advancing of
Money for providing
of new Blocks
and Beatles for
the House of
Correction at
Clerkenwell

Whereas by Order made at the General Sessions
of the Peace holden for this County by adjornment
on Thursday the Twenty Ninth day of August
last It was (inter al) recommended and
referred unto Robert Thornhill< no role > Esqr . Sr.
Isaac Tillard< no role > Knt. William Cotesworth Senr
John Fuller< no role > D'Oyly Michell Richard
Gifford John Troughton< no role > William Kingsford< no role >
Matthew Hewitt< no role > Alexander Ward< no role > Joseph
Hayne and Richard Newton< no role > Esquires Justices
of the Peace for this County or any three or more
of them to Assemble and meet together and
to See if any and what Number of New Blocks
and Beatles ought to be provided for the House of
Correction at Clerkenwell in this County for
keeping the Prisoners to Work, and what the Same
would cost, And to give Order and direction for the
making of soe many good and sufficient new Blocks
and Beatles for the said House of Correction as
they should think necessary for keeping the Prisoners
to Labour and at as cheap Rates as the Same
could be made for, Now upon Information given
unto this Court by Severall of the Members of the
said Comittee of the progress by them made in the
provideing of Such new Blocks and Beatles as aforesd.
and that it will be requisite that Money should
be advanced for defraying the Expence thereof, It
is thought fit and Ordered by this Court that Sir
Daniel Dolius< no role > Knt . one of his Majties: Justices of the
Peace of this County be and he is hereby desired out
of the Money by him received on Accompt of the said
House of Correccon to pay such Sume and Sumes of
Money and to such Person or Persons for the makeing
or providing of such new blocks and beatles as aforesaid
as the said Comittee or any three of them shall appoint
And that he shall be allowed the same upon his Accompt
