brought to the said Prison by any Constable or other Parish
Officer for safe custody untill such prisoner can be carried
before one or more of the Justices of the peace for this
County to be dealt with according to Law any greater
Fee than two Shillings untill the First day of the
next Generall Sessions of the Peace to be holden for the
County and untill further Order of the General or Quarter
Sessions of the Peace for this County to the Contrary,

Complaint being made unto this Court that divers persons
called Nightmen who make it their business to empty
Vaults & houses of Office do comitt great Nusances by
placeing the Carts & Vessells by them used to carry
away the excrements by them taken out of such
Vaults and houses of Office, in the publique Streets Lanes
Alleys & passages within the Weekly Bills of Mortality
in this County early in the evening & late in the
mornings, whereby nuwceons and unwholesome
Smells & Stenches are occasioned to the great annoyance
of his Majestys Subjects, For prevention whereof for the
future It is Ordered by this Court that noe such
persons called Nightmen do hereafter bring any of
their Carts or Vessells for carrying away such
excrements into any of the said Streets alleys or passages
untill after eleven of the clock at Night nor permitt the
same to retrain therein after four of the clock in the
morning And to the intent that they may not
pretend ignorance of his Order This Court doth require
that the High Constables of Holbourn division Finsbury
division and the Tower division in this County do fethwith
comand their respective Petty Constables and Headboroughs
to give Notice of this Order to the several Nighmen
within their respective Districts, And in case such
Nightmen or any of them or their or any of their
Servant or Servants shall bring or place any of
their Carts or Vessells for carrying away such
excrements as aforesaid in any of the said Streets Lanes
alleys or passages before eleven of the clock at Night
or permit the same to remain therein after four of the
