The humble Representation of his Majestys Justices of the
Peace for the County of Middlesex in Quarter Sessions
Assembled at Hicks hall in Saint John Street the
thirteenth day of October 1719.

That Complaint having been made unto this Court at the
last Generall Sessions held for this County by Richard
Manley
< no role > Esquire and Elizabeth his Wife against William
Booth
< no role > Esquire one of his Majestys Justices of the peace of
this County then present that he had Severall Ways
oppressed them by colour of his Office and more especially
had Exacted moneys for discharging them from their
Imprisonment which were particularly set forth in
their Petition to the said Court thereby praying their
Opinion touching the matters in the said Petition
contained Upon which the said Mr Booth desired two
days time to be heard touching the matters aforesaid
when (vizt.) the Fourth day of September last the Peticoners
and Mr. Booth appeared with their Witnesses on both
sides who were examined and the parties themselves
fully heard and it appeared unto us that Mrs. Manley had
been beaten by one Jane Vaughan< no role > her Maid Servant and
complained thereof to Mr. Booth the next Justice of the
Peace who issued his Warrant against the Servant had
her brought before him thereupon to his house in
Clerkenwell did fully hear the Complaint of Mrs.
Manley and the Servants defence And committed the
Servant to New Prison for beating her Mistress and
for want of Sureties, where she continued for two
days and then was admitted to Bail and discharged
from her Imprisonment by Mr. Booth.

That at the time of such discharge he received the
Servants complaint against her Master and Mistress
issued his Warrant against them thereupon had them
brought before him and demanded Sureties for their
