WHEREAS Complaint hath been made unto us, two
of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace
for the City of
London and Liberties thereof, one being of the Quorum,
by the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
said Parish of Saint Katherine Creechurch
London, That
Jane Hughes< no role >
Singlewoman
and her illegitimate male Child namely
Thomas< no role >
aged Fourteen Months were
lately come to reside in their said Parish, not having obtain'd
any legal Settlement there, and were likely to become charge-
able thereto, unless timely prevented, which Complaint We
the said Justices, upon due Proof made thereof, as well upon
the Oath of the said Jane as otherwise, do
adjudge to be true; and we do also adjudge the last legal
Settlement of the said Jane
to be in the said Parish of Saint Dunstan in
the East
and that thither to She ought by Law to be sent.

These are therefore in His Majesty's Name to will and
require you the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor
of the said Parish of Saint Katherine Creechurch
London, forthwith to remove and convey the said Jane
and her said illegitimate Child for Nurture
from and out of your said Parish, unto the said Parish of
Saint Dunstan in the East
And them deliver unto the Church-Wardens and Overseers
of the Poor there, or to some or one of them, together with
this our order, who is and are hereby required to receive and
provide for them according to Law. Given under our
Hands and Seals this 7th. Day of February One Thousand
Seven Hundred and eighty eight
