The Examination of Edward
Edwin taken upon Oath the
fifteenth Day of March 1786

Saith that he has known Welch about fourteen
Years and has also known Hannah Mullens< no role > about
three years, but does not know Patterson or John Abel< no role > .
That the said Welch came to him this Examinant the
Day he this Examinant sent for the said Welch in the
Afternoon. That he this Examinant told the said Welch
that he (Examinant) heard that the said Mullens was in
Trouble concerning the paper she received in the Tap. Room
[..] That he this Examinant cannot swear that the said
Patterson was the Man who delivered the said paper to
the said Mullens. That the said Mullens observed to this
Examinant, that he night remember the Time the
Wills was delivered to her, and that the said Mullens
in Wood Street Compter sayd to the Witness she hoped that
he this Examinant would appear on her Behalf, as he
this Examinant knew how she got the paper, the Letters
the Will. That the said Mullens sent a Messenger to
desire that he this Examinant would call upon her the
said Mullens in the Compter, That the first Thing the said
Mullens sayd to this Examinant in the Compter was that
she hoped he would be so kind as to appear for her as
it was known of her having received the Letter and the
Will.
