Night the third of the said July he called at a
Publick House known by the sign of the Bleeding
Heart in Charles Street near Hatton Garden
that he went into a little Room there to drink
where he met with Mr. Winckles who keeps
the Hat and Ton near there and as he believed
Mr. Blake Tallow Chandler that the said John
Mills
< no role > called for some Brandy and Water and
that soon afterwards a Person whom he believed to
be a Smith but did not know him further than
by sight and who as he believed was a Stranger
to the rest of the Company came into the Room
and drank some Ale or other Liquor and after a
Short conversation asked if any Person could
Change him a Note and produced the Stour bridge
Bank Note for Five Guineas (now deposed to by
the said James Roberts< no role > on his the said John
Mills's Examination) that the said John Mills< no role >
looked at the Note and believing it to be a good
one gave the said Person Cash for it and
negatiated it the same Night to Mr. Roger Nott< no role >
of Field Lane
