The Examination of Elizabeth Tayther of Black Eagle Street
in the Parish Christ Church in the County of Middlesex Taken
and made on Oath before me David Wilmot< no role > Esquire one of
his Majesty< no role > 's Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex
the fourth day of September 1783 .

This Examinant on her Oath Saith That she hath Known Mary Parry< no role >
late a Servant to Mr. Joreme of New street Bishopsgate street London
Weaver , for about Eight years past, at which time she was then Servant
to Mr. Salt a Paper stainer at Walthamstone in Essex.

That this Examinant and her Husband John Tayther< no role > hath for
upwards of Ten years lived and resided as Lodgers to one James
Lenham of Black Eagle street, aforesaid, and during that time the said
Mary Parry< no role > hath frequently called on this Examinant there, to see
her.

That in particular about four or five week Since, but cannot
exactly say what day, the said Mary Parry< no role > came to this Examinants
apartments in Black Eagle street aforesaid, And told this Examinant
that there would be a Sale soon, and their Warehousemen would get
her some silk Cheap, as they could get it in a Cheaper manner at the sale then at
any other time, because, she said it was old Shopkeepers which was all
the Conversation between them that day

That about a fortnight afterwards, a young woman< no role > who gods
by the name of Rebecca and was fellow Servant with the said Mary
Parry, came to this Examinants Appartments, and told this Examinant
that she came from Molly Parry and that her Mistress and the said
Molly Parry< no role > had been having some words, and that she wanted to
speak to this Examinant at her Masters house in New street aforesaid
Accordingly this Examinant on a Wednesday Evening,believesbelieves
it to be theThirteenthTwentieth day of August last, went to see the said Mary
Parry at her Masters house in New street aforesaid, and drank Tea
with her when the said Mary Parry< no role > informed this Examinant that she
and her Mistress had words, and that her Mistress would not permit
her to go out on Sundays and that she was determined to quit the Service
and desired Examinant to enquire for a place for her.

That when this Examinant was coming out of the house the said
Mary Parry< no role > gave her a small Parcell into her hands and said to her
I'll go a little way with you and as they were walking in the street
the said Mary Parry< no role > said to Examinant she had got a bit of silk for
some person, and desired this Examinant to go with her, it being just
by and they both went a back way unknown to this Examinant into
Pettycoat Lane< no role > and went into a Pawn brokers house there, and the
said Mary Parry< no role > there sold the said Silk and at the same time received
a Watch in Part of Payment for the Silk and some money but do not
Know how much, and when they came out of the Pawn brokers house
they parted and this Examinant then went home.

That about two or three days after, the above the said Mary
Parry came to the appartments of this Examinant herself and
asked her to come to her Masters house and told her if she came she would
