This Examinant says that he did publish to Messrs. Down and
Pell Bankers in Bartholomew Lane
on or about the 27th. day
of July last the Bill of Exchange now produced purporting
to be the Bill of Exchange of the Governor and Councils of Fort
Marlboro for the Payment of Four thousand and sixty five pounds
to Nathaniel Brown< no role >
Esqr
. or Order on the Directors of the Honble.
United East India Company at 12 Months sight and dated Fort
Marlbro' 31st. July 1781 and Accepted Sd Michell Secy. That
the said Bill of Exchange [..] or any part thereof is not of this Examinants
Hand writing. That this Examinant did not know that the said
Bill or the Acceptance thereto were forged or counterfeit. That
the said Bill of Exchange with the Acceptance was given to this
Examinant in the Rotunda at the Bank or at the Bank Coffee
house the Day before he so published it to Messrs. Down and
Pell, by James Haggleston< no role >
who this Examinant understood
lived in Margaret Street Cavendish Square
That this Examinant
Borrowed said Bill of Exchange of said Haggleston in order
to raise Money and gave him two Notes as a Security for
that Sum.
This Examinant further says that he did publish to
Messrs. Nightingate Bakers in Lombard Street
the Bill of Exchange
now produced purporting to be the Bill of Exchange of the Governor
