for himself saith that between the Hours of one and two [..]

were in a Boat on the River Thomas on their Duty He this D [..]
a Boat with three Persons in it passing by a Tier of Ships nearly op [..]
the Custom House That he this Deponent immediately rowed after a [..]
followed the [..] said Boat till it stopt at or near a Barge on the [..]
Opposite side of the River where he this Deponent endeavoured to get [..]
of the said Boat and then saw a Large Case therein That one of [..]
Persons called out to this Deponent and threatened to shoot him [..]
being able to hold the said Boat it Drifted off and went through London [..]
Bridge and this Deponent and the said Warner also followed and again
came up with the said Boat and the said three Men, the said Large Case thereon
at the Bankside Southwark in the said County of Surry where one of the said
Persons whom he then knew to be the abovenamed James Bird< no role > called
to this Deponent and said to this Deponent " Will Hobs keep your Boat [..]
" Off do not come along side if You do well Fire into You " and thereupon [..]
the said James Bird< no role > called to this Deponent and said Damn You take [..]
and immediately a Pistol was fired by one of the three Persons in the [..]
Boat That the sd Boat was then Rowed away through Black Tryers Bridge to a Place
called the Old Barge House or Bull Hairs on the Surry side of the River
where he this Deponent and the said William Warner< no role > Followed and a [..]
he this Deponent came near he again heard one or two Pistols Fired
and upon coming nearer saw the said Large case in the Water and for [..]
That the abovenamed Thomas Sloat< no role > George Sloat< no role > and others had also
in Pursuit of the said Boat with the said Three Men one of whom w [..]
the said James Bird< no role > and that they had thrown the said Large Case
Over Board and this Deponent Further saith that he and the said [..]
Deponents and the said George Sloat< no role > then endeavoured last the [..]
Large Case into a Boat but could not and therefore they drewle near, [..]
by Cuppers Bridge on the said Surry side of the River where they unpack [..]
in the Water and Found thereon Three or Four Dozen of Quadrants and others

proceeded down the River till he come near to the Place where he first
