Companions again overtook the Boat in which the said James Bird< no role >
and his two Companions were when the said James Bird< no role > again told them
to keep off, that this Informant and his Companions then desisted from
any further Pursuit of the Men but the said Philip Martin< no role > sent to
This Informant " there is Charles in the Boat " & repeated the same
several times & particularly said " I am sure of if I could swear
to him " meaning as this Deponent verily believes one Charles
Young, that this Informant his Companions then went and
assisted the other Persons belonging to the Fishmongers Barge to
secure the said Large Case which was still in the Water, that in
unpacking the said Case they found it to contain a Number of
Quadrants and other Instruments, that this Informant took into his
Custody the said Case and about 6 of the said Quadrants, and three Scales & left
the rest in the Custody of the Persons belonging to the Fishmonger 's
Barge, That he this Informant then rowed down the River to
a Vessel commanded by Capt. Johnson in the Istend Trade which
he suspected to be the Vessel from which the said Case had been
stolen, and on alarming the People belonging to the said Vessel
it was discovered that the said Case of Goods had been stolen
from on board thereofAnd the said William Warner< no role > for
himself says that he has heard the above Information of
William Hobbs< no role > read, that he was in Company with the said William
Hobbs during the Time therein spoken of, and the whole of what is
asserted in the said Information of William Hobbs< no role > is strictly true.
