at Mr. Harris's Knasher very well and would give her a Character
on which this Informant sent to the Informant John Harris< no role > 's
house for John Bloude< no role > the prisoner now under Examinations
who happened to be then out, but after wards came to this Informant
House, who or being interrogated as to his Knowledge of this Woman
appeared to be angryasking what& said, she lived in Wheeler Street
that she was a very Honest Woman, and ask'd what they wanted
with her, he was told there was a suspicion of hercarryonbringing
stolen Goods, he again said she was a very Honest Woman, and
he would go with her to the Mansion House , he accordingly
went with her, and there sent for half a pint of wine for her
kour thence they allcausewent to Guild hall and on being
brought before a Magistrate [..] and some Suspicions having
been entertained of him from the manner of his Behaviour,
both he and the Woman were examed but being seperately
examined and they happening to contradict each other in several
CircumstancestheyInformant & others began more strongly than ever to suspect the
said John Bloudes< no role > being concerned in some clandertine or dishoners's
Business with the said Martha Ford< no role > , and accordingly he was
told that they wished to search his lodgings, to which he appeared
very readily to consent,heand gave Directions to one Green's a
Porter in Saint John Street where he said he lodged in a Garrett
but soon after being ordered to be sent to the Compter and gone out of
the Justice Room the persons who had him in Custody Presently
returned with him and declared he then refused to permit any in
person to search his lodgings, adding that he did not know
that there was any Gunmal Charge against him; he was
accordingly then taken to the Compter, and this Informant with
said Mr. Hartley and other Person went into St John Street to
enquire for one Green a Porter, but could find no such person
and this Informant went to the Compter to said Bloude to
remonstrate with him about giving a false direction to his
lodging she appeared then to be in Liquor and was abusive
and would have struck this Informant had he not been
prevented And this Informant further saith that the next day he saw a
Man, who said he was Brother to Martha Ford< no role > , at the House of
the Informant Harris & the same day the Informant Thomas
Cause by came there, and on that day he learnt where the said
John Bloude< no role > lodged, and he this Informant went to the lodgings of
said Bloude & remained there until the Informant Thomas Hartley< no role > went for a
Search Warrant and came thither with a Constable and then
the Informant Dinmorebeinga Constable sessisted by the Informant
Hartley, Said, Cause by himself & some othersand therefound there
a great Quantity of Goods consisting of Hats, Goats wool
Red Wool and other articles wherein the Informant John
Harris the Master of the said John Bloude< no role > dealt in, they also
found a twelve Inch Rule with the Initial Letters of Mr. Harris's Name
upon it, which this Informant Knew to be the Hand writing of the said
ThomasJohn, Harris, they also found a pair of money Seales in a Fish Skin
case, says that the Goods and things found were all taken away
