Richard Merricks< no role > of Holbourn near Brownlow
Street in the Parish of St. Andrew Holbourn in the
County of Middx. Dresser to Mr. Stafford Crane< no role >
one of the Surgeons belonging to St: Bartholomew's
Hospital maketh Oath and saith that the deced
was ononthe Evening of Wednesday the 22d. day of
June last brought unto the sd. Hospital having a
Wound upon his Head which on this Depts
Examination Dept. found to be fractured; that Dept
immediately bled the deced and then sent to Mr.
James Earl< no role > one of the Assistant Surgeons who
soon afterwards came and on his Examination
of the sd. Wound said the deced's Sevll was
fractured: says the deced's Wound was dressed but
there [..] not appearing any bad Sympton trepaning
was thought unnecessary, says the deced appraised
Pretty well till the Sunday Evening then next
following when he complained of a pain in his
Head which continued till the Thursday then
next following when [..] Mrs. Young Surgeon belonging to sd. Hospital thought at
necessary to perform the Operation of trepaning
the deced [..] Mr. Robert one of the Surgeons
belonging to the sd. Hospital:
says that bad
Symptons continued till Friday last the 8th. of
July inst. which was the last time Dept. saw the
deced alive and Dept. hath been informed and
believes that the deced died the next day being the
9th. day of the sd. July: says the deced mentioned
in Depts. Hearing that the Hunt was given the
deced by a Bricklayers Hammer but did not
mention the Person's Name who gave him the
Blow: that Dept. hath carefully inspected and
examined the deced's Wound and verily believes the
same to be the cause of the death of the deced:
