The Information of John Shields< no role >
taken before me this 24th. day of April 1772

Who being on Oath says that he keeps an heads my at
Islington that Mr. Leonard Jacob Van Hernpeck< no role > was Latin Usher
in his Academy from the latter End of April 1764 to the latter
End of October 1765 that whilst the said Hernpeck was Usher
to this Informant he appeared to be in such narrow Cirumstan-
ces that he frequently received his Wages from this Informant
before it was due says the said Hernpeck left this Informants
Service on a sudden giving him a very few days Notice
only, that the said sudden the said Hernpeck appeared to be well
cloathed and wore a Diamond Ring which he said cost fifty
pounds that the said Hernpeck accounted for this sudden
Change in his Circumstances by telling this Informant
that either his father or Uncle were dead in Holland
and had left him a considerable fortune, says that
the said Hernpeck lodged in the same house and was
intimately acquainted with Thomas Wood< no role > now in Custody
and that the said Thomas Wood< no role > was his intimate Acquaintance
when he left this Informant's Service says the said
Wood told this Informant that he had advanced Money
to the said Hernpeck to go to Holland and that he had
taken his Goods himself, that the said Hernpack left
Islington on the last day of October or the first day of
November 1765
