The Humble Petition of the Churchwardens and Overseers
of the Poor of the Parish of St. James Clerkenwell
in the
County of Middx.
Sheweth
That
David Williams< no role >
an Inhabitant of the same Parish is
lately become Poor and unable to maintain himself so that he is
now in the workhouse and kept at the Charge of the same Parish
being Old and unable to work
That Edward Williams< no role >
of Fleet Lane
near the Fleet market
London undertaker
son of the said David Williams< no role >
is of sufficient
Ability to maintain him
That your Petitioners said Parish is heavily burthened with a
great number of Poor Old Blind Lane and Impotent Persons
Whereby your Petitioners humbly pray that
the said Edward Williams< no role >
may be ordered and
obliged at his own Charges to relieve and
maintain for his said poor Father according
to such Rate, as to your Lordship and this Honble
Court shall seem meet to Assess
And your Petitioner shall ever pray Etc
