WHEREAS Sarah Bailey< no role > This name instance is in set 907. This set is in the group(s): MothersPS . Singlewoman in her Examination
taken in Writing, on Oath saith, that she was, on or about
the 12th. day of June 1764 lastdelivered of a female
Bastard Child
in the Parish of Saint Bridget vulgarly Saint Brides London, which
said female Bastard Child, is already become chargeable to the said Parish,
and is likely so to continue; therefore we whose Hands are hereunto set,
two of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the City of London and Liberties
thereof (one being of the Quorum) and both of us residing next unto the
Limits where the Parish-Church of the said Parish of Saint Bridget
London, standeth, having
upon the Complaint of the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of
the Parish aforesaid, taken upon us the Hearing and Examination of the
Cause and Circumstances of the Premises, Do find by the Examination of
the said Sarah Baily< no role > taken upon her Oath, that one Andrew
Spratt
< no role > now or late of the said Parish Gentleman is the Father
of the said Female Bastard Child, whereupon we do adjudge that
he the said Andrew Spratt< no role > is the reputed Father of the said female Bastard
Child, and we do Order that he the said Andrew Spratt< no role > shall on Notice
of this our Order, pay, or cause to be paid, unto the Church-Wardens and
Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint Bridget
London, some, or one of them, the Sum of Two Pounds
Two Shillings & Two pence of lawful Money of Great-Britain, so
much being by them already expended for and towards the Maintenance
of the said female Bastard Child; and also that he the said Andrew Spratt< no role >
shall on Tuesday in every Week, from and after the Date hereof, so
long as the said female Bastard Child shall continue chargeable to the
said Parish, pay, or cause to be paid unto the Church-Wardens and Over-
seers of the Poor of the said Parish, or to one of them, the Sum of Two
Shillings & Six pence of like lawfull Money, for and towards the
Maintenance and keeping of the said female Bastard Child. In Witness
whereof, we the said Justices have unto this our Order, set out Hands, this
15th. Day of April 1766
