Thomas Godman< no role > of the Parish of Saint
Luke in the County of Middlesex Surgeon
maketh Oath that having this day
inspected the Body of the deceased there
appeared a Wound of about half an Inch
in width between the fourth and fifth Rib
of the left side which penetrated the Thorow
and went [..] obliquely to the left Lobe of the
Lungs and made a large wound, the
Consequence of which was a large effusion
of Blood which Dept. apprehends was the
immediate cause of his Death.

Says that he is of opinion that it
must be done by some & harp Instrument
and not likely to have been down by
throwing of the same: And Deponent is the
other inclined to believe so, by the
Scituation of the Wound.

maketh oathlodging at the Three Polley
Butchers in Swan Alley maketh Oath that on
Sunday Evening last about 9 o'Clock Depts.
Brother Lewis< no role > came to Depts. Lodging
and told this Dept. that he had cut Joseph
Hughes
< no role > with a Knife by throwing the
same at him and that he was afraid to go
home & therefore desired to lye withwith
Dept. to which Dept consented: Says that
labors Dept. consentd sd. Lewis she lye with him
[..] Dept. repaired to the House of the deced.
and went up into his Room where he saw a Son
of Mr. Godman & two of his Servants dressing
the Wounds of the deced, says the deced groaned

but believes he was not able to speak, that
thereupon Dept. returned to is Lodgings & went to Bed
to his Brother, & lay there till about one or two of
the Clock when Dept. & her Bror. Lewis were [..]
taken intotheCustody.
