John Lorrs< no role > . on the Defendant in this Cause Maketh Oath and Saith that he this Depont.
being Indicted at the Petionr of Cyer and Terminer he sd for the City of London on
Wednesday the twelfth Day of October One thousand seven hundred and forty three for Wilfull and Corrupt To which
said Indictment at the last, Sessions held for the said City at Justice Hall in the Old Baileyon
Wednesday the thirtieth day of May last this Dept. appeared Pleaded & Entred into a
Recognizance with Sureties. Try the same at the present Sessions And this Dept. Saith
that Ann Charrier< no role > wife of Lewis Charrier< no role > late of London Merchant who is a material,
Witness for this, Dept. in this Cause went beyond Sea to Rothfort In France in Janry last
being then Pregnant and is not yet returned but is now as appears to the Defendt. by
a Letter from Lewis Charrier< no role > her husband Sick in Child Bed having been lately Delivered
to wit the thirtieth of June last New Stile which this Dept. beleives to be true And this
Dept Saith that without the Testimony of the said Ann Charrier he this Depont. cannot safely
proceed to Tryal on the aforesaid Indictment And saith that the said Ann Charrier will
as he beleives in a short time Return from Rothfort to England And Saith the Letter
which he Reced from the said Lewes Charrier bears date the second day of July
and came to this Dept hands about eight Days ago and not soonerwhich said
Letter is the proper hand Writing of the said Lewis Charrier< no role > as this Dept.
beleives and this Depont. further Saith that on Monday the ninth day of
July instruct served, John Bedall< no role > the Prosecutor with a Copy of the
Notue hereunto Amidedd by hearing the same with his Wife at his
house in Hedge Lane in the County of Middx
