Mayor of the City of London and the rest of his
Majestys Justices of the Peace for the said City in
their General Session Assembled

The humble Petition & Appeal of
Thomas< no role > and Paul Corbell< no role > of the Parish of St. Martin
Vintry in London Sugar Refiners & Co partners

Sheweth


That by a Rate or Assessment made upon the
Inhabitants, of the said Parish for the Relief of the Poor
thereof for one half year commencing from Lady day 1748
& ending at Michas last your Petrs. are Rated and
assessed much more in the Pound than any other
Inhabitant or Inhabitants of the aforesaid Parish and for
non payment thereof the late Church Wardens and
Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish made a Distress
of your Petrs. Goods & have since made Sale thereof for
which reason your Petrs. apprehend they are unequally
& unreasonably Rated and Assessed & much aggrieved
as well by the said Rate and Assessment as by the said
Distress And therefore humbly appeal against the
same and pray such Relief in the Premisses as to your
Worships shall seem meet
