The Examinacon and Confession of Wm Maynee< no role >
taken this 4th. day of January 1730 before Sr. Edwd
Bellamy
< no role > Knt. & Alderman & one of his Maties
Justices of the peace for the City of London

Who sayeth that on the 19th. day of June last he this
Examt. paid at the Bank the Sume of fifty pounds for
which he this Examt. had a Note made payable to one
Henry Cole< no role > or Bearer for the said Sume of fifty pounds
which note he this Examt. gave to one Alexander
Leckie
< no role > to go to the Bank and receive thirty pounds in
part of the said Note and bid the said Leckie bring the
said Note and money to him this Examt. at Robin's
Coffee house which the said Leckie did accordingly after
which this Examt. altered the said Indorsement of
thirty pounds to the sume of ten pounds And in a short
time after he this Examt. went to the Bank with the
said hole and received fifteen pounds more in the Name of
Robert Saunders< no role > which was indorsed of the said Note
After which he this Examt. with warm Water and
other things washed out both the said Indorsment [..]
off the said Note and afterwards gave the said Note to one Joseph Needham< no role > to pay away for
fifty pounds tho' this Examt. Knew there was in fact
but five pounds due on the same the Sume of forty five
pounds having been reced by the sd Indorsments And
this Examt. also gave the said Joseph Needham< no role > above
fifty pounds in money and desired him to go and buy a
South Sea Bond which the said Needham did Accordingly
And this Examt. farther sayeth that the said Note was
originally No 115 which he this Examt. altered to
No 119 and farther sayeth that the said Note was dated
the 19th. day of June 1730 which he this Examt. altered to
the wth. day of June and also altered the Name of Cole
to Collet And this Examt. farther sayeth that the said
Needham was utterly ignorant of the said Note having
been altered by him this Examt.
