The Informacon of George Stanlake< no role > of the Inner
Temple Gent take [..] upon Oath this 23th. day of
August 1697

This Informt. deposeth That on the 22d. day of May last past his
Chambers in the Temple aforesaid were Robbed by some person or
persons who feloniously tooke away mony and other goods of a
considerable value of this Informants and this Informt. doth suspect that John Branson< no role >
Junr . who is this Informts. Clerke and John Branson< no role > senor . (his Father)
did Comitt the felonie And the reason of this Informts. suspicon is
because the said John Branson< no role > sen being destitute of a Lodging
being driven out of White Fryers upon the late Act of Parliamt.
obteined leave from this Informt. that he might lye in this Informts
Chambers with his sonne for some small time till he could provide
himselfe of another Lodging That on the 20th. day of May this
Informt. designed to goe out of Towne but was prevented and about
11 of the Clock that Night this Informt. heard his said Clerke come
in and another person with him and they went into his owne Chamber
and finding a light in this Informts. Chamber he with the other Pson
went out again and in a little time the said Branson Junr. returned
without any body with him And this Informt. is told by John Ashe< no role >
his other Clerke and Martha Holdford< no role > his Landress that the Dayle
before the said Robbery was comitted (being the 21st.) that the said
John Branson< no role > Junr . was very inquisitive whether he this Informt.
did goe out of Towne that Evening and desired the said Martha
Holford
< no role > to aske this Informt. the question and when he heard that
this Informt. would goe he seemed to the said John Ashe< no role > to rejoyce
That on Saturday the 22th. of May in the Morneing he this Informt.
came to London and when he came to his Chamber about Seaven of
the Clock he found the outward dore of his Chamber standing a Jarr
and goeing in found his owne Lodgeing Chamber dore and his Cabinett
and Chest of Drawers broake open whereout his money and goods were
taken, but a Silver hilted Sword and a Silver hilted Stanger which were
visible in the roome and severall peeces of flowred Linnen and
other remarkable Linnen and remarkable peeces of money wch.
Say in the same Cabinett and Chest of Drawers were left behind
and neither his study doore nor his Clossett in his Lodging Chamber
were broake open

And this Informt. finding his Chamber robbed as aforesaid he called
for the said John Branson< no role > his Clerke who say below Staires and goeing
downe to him found him in the bedd with his Shirt on onely and the bedd
Clothes over him with his hands tyed behind him and his Leggs at liberty
