none with force & armes at London vizt: in the parish of St. Dunstans in the West in the ward of
Farringdon without made an Assault on the Pet: and did then & there beat wound & evill in treat
ye. pet. So that he almost despaired of his life and did also then & there detain & Cause to be detained
ye. pet. in Prison for the space of 10 hours then next following without any reasonable Cause &
against the pets: Consent so that Pet: paid 5s. for his delivery thence & did then & there offer other
Enormities to ye. Pet: agt. their Maties. Peace, and to the Pets damage £10.

To wch. the Deft. hath pleaded Not GuiltyWhereupon If one is joined

That by the great Increase of Hackney Coaches in London The Streetes thereof were
much pestered Whereby great damages, Mischiefs & Inconveniences arose to the Citizens and
Inhabitants of the City For Prvention whereof & to reduce them to a convenient Number
& that they might be undr: come good Regulacon & Governmt: agreeable to what had been
provided by Act of Com: Councell concerning Cars & Carmen the Mayor Aldren & Com:
Comons is Comon Councell Assembled did 13. Marty 1682 according to their Customs
confirmed by act of Parliamt: reduce the Number of Hacknes Coaches to 400 and
thereby ascertained their Prizes of hire & places of Standing & ye form of their licences Etc.
Together with diverse Forfeitures for offences, with power to distrain ye Coaches & horses of ye. offendrs:
& yt: all Constables Cr in the said City to be aiding in the Execuson of the sd. Act at P printed act

the Court of Aldren 30: Augt. 1692 for the better puting in Execucon of the sd. Act of
Com: Councell did admit & appiont the Deft. together with Andrew Tomkins< no role > Tho: Yates< no role > & Wm: Plumer to be
Constables within the City & Libties & also Antho: Stirke< no role > , John Finch< no role > & Wm. Blanby< no role > to be assistants to
the sd. Constables & none unlicensed to be printed to ply within the City & Libties pursuant to the
sd. Act of Com: CouncellSee the Ordr.

That Accordingly 25: Oct 1692 The said Constables were all Sworn
