in the Ward of Langborne

The Case

That on the 13: March 1682 An act of Comon Councell was made for the Regulating of Hackney Coaches
Wch: reduc'd their Number to 400 And ascertain'd their prices of Hire Places of standing licenced & with
diverse Forfeitures for Offendrs: And all Constables to be riding in the Excecucon of the sd. Act.

The Court of Aldern 27. June last for the better puting in Execucon of the said Act of Com: Councell did
admit & appoint Wm: Collins< no role > to be a Constable within this City & Libties And also Richard Pemberton< no role > & Thomas Abrehall
to be his assistant. And on the 20th. of July last appointed John Asterley< no role > to be a Constable. And Robert Clarke< no role >
& Tho: Abrahall to be his assistants & requir'd them to prvent the Disordrs of the licenc'd Hackney Coachmen
& to permit none unlicensed to ply within the City & Libties Psuant to the sd. Acts of Com: Counell

The Ld.St. John Fleet< no role > Ld Mayor by warrt: dat 24th. July lastreciting theImpowerd the sd. Asterley and
Collins (the sd. Constable) to take up all offendrs: agt: the sd. act and tohiscarry them before any Justice
of Peace to be Dealt with all according to Lawat P warrt:Pray great damages agt: the Defts. for abusing
the psons at supra in Consempt of the sd. Authorities
